Woodworking: Bent Lamination for Sculpture & Furniture with Simon Kitz | October 21, 2023 - October 22, 2023

While there are many ways to manipulate wood, bending it into a pleasing form permanently is one of the most challenging and satisying. This class will focus on a simple way to bend laminate wood into a curved shape using a 2 part or "AB" mold. While it is technically less forgiving than bending on a single sided mold, it requires fewer clamps and set up time. It is highly repeatable and gives a terrific finished product. We will discuss the process, material use and technique as well as application before beginning the build process. If there is extra time left over we will clean up the part to a finish ready stage. This is a two day workshop. Each day will begin at 9:00 am and end at around 4:00 pm. The workshop will be held at Intersections Wood Collaborative at 299 10th Street E., Owen Sound.
